A stunning Ostrich Egg container embellished with intricately designed Sterling Silver Dragon. The inner lining is decorated with 24 K Gold Leaf.

The complexity of this piece comes in the form of its vividness of an egg. The difficulty extends to the varying sizes and shapes of the eggs, requiring Silver work to be customized by hand for each piece. As silver is not the softest metals, experienced artistic skill and patience is needed to shape the silver to embellish the egg.

As a totem, Dragons traditionally symbolize potent and auspicious powers, particularly control over water, rainfall, typhoons, and floods. The dragon is also a symbol of power, strength, and good luck for people who are worthy of it in East Asian culture. The Dragon is also the fifth of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals. The Year of the Dragon is associated with the Earthly Branch symbol 辰, pronounced chen.

Ostrich eggshells have had a long history in the art and commerce. Ostrich eggshells were used as containers in North Africa as early as the fourth millennium BC and in the ancient Punic civilization, there are many examples of ostrich eggs decorated with painted geometric designs for use as cups and bowls. The tradition of using ostrich eggs as containers (sometimes decorated) continues to the present.  During the Renaissance in Europe (15th–16th centuries AD), ostrich eggs were mounted in silver as goblets for display in cabinets of curiosities. Decorated eggs continue to be widely displayed in Eastern Orthodox churches.

Over 4 months of were spent to create this piece with over 10 designers and craftsmen involved. This creation can serve as a great gift.
