Wooden Chinese wise man sculpture inspired by Confucius the great. The piece has been carved from Burl wood, accented with sterling silver hand, carries a walking stick made from Burl wood. Set on black granite stand.

The philosophy of Confucius—Confucianism—emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice, kindness, and sincerity. Confucianism was part of the Chinese social fabric and way of life; to Confucians, everyday life was the arena of religion. The Chinese spiritual world shaped by this Confucianism have inspired wise men with feats of endless meditations, of long travels, of metaphysical deeds which were miracles to the believers, bringing the spirit to this strikingly elegant design.

Rolf von Bueren, an avid burl wood collector for over 40 years, personally travels to Japan to look for rare and beautiful pieces of burl woods – some that he keeps, some that he shares with his collector friends and Lotus Arts de Vivre designs. Burls result in a uniquely patterned wood, which is highly prized for its beauty. It is valued and sought after by artists, furniture makers and sculptors. The "wild grain" in the Burl makes the wood extremely dense and resistant to splitting, which made it valued for bowls, artifacts and sculptures, and is a popular wood in many auction houses across the world.
