Jewellery box is handcrafted out of Pomelle wood, covered with Galuchat (stingray) leather. Embellished with a Japanese lacquer artwork which takes over 6 months to craft.

Japanese art and its love for nature is one of the world’s greatest treasures, covering a wide range of art styles and media, including ancient Japanese Lacquer, pottery, sculpture, ink painting and calligraphy on silk and paper, ukiyo-e paintings and woodblock prints, ceramics, origami and more. However, the Maki-e lacquering technique started by the Japanese is one of the most intriguing, starting over 1,000 years ago, which involves sprinkling the design with gold or silver powder as a decoration using a brush. Bamboo tubes and soft brushes of various sizes are used for laying powders and drawing fine lines. As it requires highly skilled craftsmanship to produce a Maki-e painting, young artists usually go through many years of training to develop the skills and to ultimately become Maki-e masters.

This Japanese Lacquer collection has emerged from the von Buren to Japan and its various antique fairs, where this entire lot was collected, that ranges from 70 to over 250 years.

Carrying on the legacy of preserving jewels and hand-crafted production techniques, Lotus Arts de Vivre created this piece to conceal and preserve your jewelry and accessories; be it necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, watches, etc., all the while working as a great decoration piece for your room.

This piece took approximately 3 months labour to finish, with over 5 craftsmen and designers involved from design to production.
