Monkey crafted from a Single piece of burl wood. Embellished with Sterling silver head, hand and tail, with the eyes set with Tiger’s Eyes. He holds a carved teak wood lotus leaf, that can be use as a serving tray.

The monkey totem symbolizes the monkeys as the master of mischievousness. This is because the monkeys usually tend to play tricks on people. Many Chinese try to give birth in a year of the Monkey, as they believe that this will make their babies clever. In China saying, "Your kid is like a Monkey," is perceived as praise.

Rolf von Bueren, an avid burl wood collector for over 40 years, personally travels to Japan to look for rare and beautiful pieces of burl woods – some that he keeps, some that he shares with his collector friends and Lotus Arts de Vivre designs. Burls result in a uniquely patterned wood, which is highly prized for its beauty. It is valued and sought after by artists, furniture makers and sculptors. The ""wild grain"" in the Burl makes the wood extremely dense and resistant to splitting, which made it valued for bowls, artifacts and sculptures, and is a popular wood in many auction houses across the world.

It took 2 months to finish the piece with as many as 6 designers and craftsmen involved at various stages.
