Created from a natural Teak root wood transformed into a Gorilla with Sterling Silver head and legs, the eyes decorated with Tiger Eye Quartz. He is wearing a spectacle made from Sterling Silver with 24K Gold-leaf.
The Gorilla symbolism stands for loyalty, leadership, compassion, dignity, and accountability. These symbolic meanings are more concentrated on selflessness than individualism. This spirit animal exudes a quiet honour, a calm dignity and also symbolizes leadership with temperance, understanding, compassion, and balance, helping grow ones innate inner strength.
The teak root was sourced from the finest teak plantations in Java, Indonesia, which is known to have the ideal conditions for high grade Teak quality. Teak has a high oil content, giving it the highest decay-resistance among all-natural wood products. Due to its durability, while it is still used for boat building, yachts, exterior construction, indoor and outdoor furniture, it also very dear to artists and sculptors for making intricate carvings and elaborate sculptures. Lotus Arts de Vivre uses various free-formations of the teak branches, teak root or driftwood to further hand-carve and create its designs, giving wood a second life.
After sourcing these extremely valuable organic formations of Teak Wood, it took approximately 10 weeks labour to create this piece with over 8 designers and craftsmen involved.
