A single piece of Burl Wood, transformed into a low table and designed with Sterling Silver into a Tortoise. The Head and feet of the Tortoise are painstakingly crafted in Sterling Silver and a Tiger’s eye into the eyes of the Tortoise brings the piece to life.

Turtles are a symbol of peace. They live in complete harmony with the earth, water, and other elements. They know how to make it peaceful situation, remain grounded during the praises and withdraw during the difficult conditions.

Rolf von Bueren, an avid burl wood collector for over 35 years, personally travels to Japan to look for rare and beautiful pieces of burl woods including this majestic piece. Burls result in a uniquely patterned wood, which is highly prized for its beauty. It is valued and sought after by artists, furniture makers and sculptors.

It took six craftsmen and designers over 2.5 months to complete this piece.
