A Table made from Manila tamarind wood and embellished with Sterling Silver Tiger. Eyes are made with Tiger eye quartz. Decorated with a tempered glasstop.
Tigers and their superlative qualities have been a source of fascination for mankind since ancient times, and they are routinely visible as important cultural and media motifs. They are also considered one of the charismatic megafauna, and are used as the face of conservation campaigns worldwide.
Manila Tamarind, while originated in Central America, was introduced to Indonesia in the 1980’s by the Portuguese and the Dutch, from where the wood was sourced by Rolf von Bueren with the intention of making sculptures and tables like this piece. Tamarind wood is used to make furniture and various carvings. It is durable in decay resistance, and is also resistant to insects. Due to its density and interlocked grain, tamarind is considered difficult to work with.
Took more than 6 months of labor to finish, is perfect for a cozy corner in a living or a dining area.
