Oval Mirror with Marquetry Frames and Scarab Frog Décor

Á beautiful oval mirror that has been framed in elegant brown Marquetery work with a contrasting Gold leaf on the inside line. The design has been finished with a scarab wing decorated frog.

Marqueterie is the art and craft of applying pieces of veneer to a structure to form decorative patterns, designs or pictures. The technique may be applied to case furniture or even seat furniture, to decorative small objects with smooth, veneerable surfaces or to freestanding pictorial panels appreciated in their own right. Marquetry using colored straw was a specialty of some European arts from the 18th century.

This piece has been co-designed and produced, in an artistic collaboration between two design ateliers – Lotus Arts de Vivre and Muse Design, both based out of Bangkok, Thailand.

The piece took over 5 craftsmen and designers involved in both the ateliers approximately 1 month to complete.
