Murashido ikebana bronze vase by Hasegawa Yoshihisa, Hasegawa Yoshihisa (1928-2002)A son of renown metal artist Hasegawa Gassen and one of the most recognizable metal artists of 20th century Japan. He participated in numerous international prestigious shows and art exhibitions , including annual Nitten National Art shows , where he received several awards. His works were commissioned by Imperial Agency.

Murashido is a technique achieved by dipping the hot bronze in oil immediately after firing and then smoking with rice straw. This is a masterpiece of heavy bronze and a wonderful patina of colors.

This Kabin (vase), is ideal for the beautiful Japanese minimalistic Ikebana decoration. In ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, blossoms, branches, leaves, and stems find new life as materials for artmaking. In contrast to the western habits of casually placing flowers in a vase, ikebana aims to bring out the inner qualities of flowers and other live materials and express emotion. Ikebana is influenced by Buddhist ideals of minimalism.
