Keyaki or Japanese Elm is a species of the genus Zelkova native to Japan, Korea, eastern China and Taiwan and is often grown as an ornamental tree. Keyaki wood is a highly prized wood in Japan for its beautiful grain, hardness and weight. It can be polished or stained.
Peacock is one of the most brilliantly adorned bird , representing pride and glory and was once considered as a bird of protection. Buddhists also connect peacock’s feather with openness since the bird dazzlingly displays everything when fanning its tail out.
This piece was designed and finished by 5 craftsmen and designers involved at various stages, taking 1.5 months to complete.
