Murashido bronze ikebana vase by renown metal artist Nakajima Yasumi 1st, ( 1877-1952), father of Nakajima Yasumi 2nd , he and his son are one of the most collectable japanese Ikebana vase artists in the world. He exhibited extensively around Japan as well as overseas art shows and worked for Imperial household agency.

Murashido is a technique achieved by dipping the hot bronze in oil immediately after firing and then smoking with rice straw. This is a masterpiece of heavy bronze and a wonderful patina of colors.

This Kabin (vase), is ideal for the beautiful Japanese minimalistic Ikebana decoration. In ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, blossoms, branches, leaves, and stems find new life as materials for artmaking. In contrast to the western habits of casually placing flowers in a vase, ikebana aims to bring out the inner qualities of flowers and other live materials and express emotion. Ikebana is influenced by Buddhist ideals of minimalism.
