Lucky Toad crafted from a Single piece of Japanese Keyaki. Embellished with Sterling silver head, legs and decorated with a Brass Coin.
This Jin Chan is depicted as a bullfrog with red eyes, flared nostrils carrying a pile of traditional Chinese cash (Coins), with one in its mouth. On its back, it often displays various spots, which have been organically formed in this sculpture. According to Feng Shui beliefs, Jin Chan helps attract and protect wealth, and guards against bad luck.
Carved from Japanese Keyaki (Zelkova Serrata Tree), the wood is highly prized by Japanese woodworkers for its beautiful grain, and is used to fashion items as small as bowls to large pieces of furniture. One of the oldest and largest known Zelkova trees is called the Great Zelkova Nomo, in Toyono Nose, Osaka, Japan. It is more than 1,000 years old and is a National Natural Monument.
It took eight master craftsmen with a combined production time of 12 weeks to complete this timeless sculpture.
