Eastern Curiosities Japanese Lacquer Collection

The collection emerged from Rolf von Bueren’s trips to Japan starting early 1970’s and visiting its various antique fairs. The results of these trips like Hibachis, trays, vases, boxes, tables and other utilities were once made for nobility, temples and those who could afford luxury.

The pieces range from approximately 70 – 300 years old and were produced by the incredible and time-consuming Japanese lacquer processes primarily consisting of Maki-e Lacquer, followed Kamakura-Bori, Raden, Nashiji and Wajima.
